Recently, there have been 2 significant changes to the Family Law Act that either have or are proposed to soon come into effect.

In this webinar, Recent Changes in Family Law, Lee Formica from Lander & Rogers, will guide you through the new rules in respect of parenting orders, as well as the proposed changes dealing with family violence and the impact on property disputes.

Specifically, Lee will address:

Recent legislative changes to parenting orders under the Family Law Act 1975.

• Repeal of the presumption of equal shared parental responsibility.
• Reconsideration of final parenting orders - when can I go back to court to change parenting orders?

Proposed legislative changes to property disputes under the Family Law Act 1975.

The Family Law Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2023 makes significant changes to the family law system, and particularly the recognition of family violence as an important factor in property disputes.

• How will family violence be considered in property matters?
• What is the standard of proof?
• How will it affect property adjustments between parties?
