James joined KHQ in 2017 and combines his commercial background with his technical workplace relations expertise to provide solution-oriented advice to clients of all sizes.
James’ expertise includes advising on award and agreement interpretation and associated disputes and compliance issues, all aspects of employment contracts (including construction issues, restraints and post-employment conduct), and complex entitlements advice.
James’ other areas of specialist expertise include industrial planning, change management and restructuring; employment termination litigation; enterprise agreement negotiation and approvals; and advising on the workplace relations and safety aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including through legal due diligence and strategic advice.
James is a key member of the safety team and advises on the full scope of WHS compliance and litigation matters. James also assists clients with a range of employment related litigation matters, appearing in the Fair Work Commission, in State and Federal courts, VCAT and in other jurisdictions.
James is recognised in the “Ones to Watch” category of The Best Lawyers™ in Australia for Employee Benefits Law (2026).
